My Disney Time - Week 3: Mickey's Toontown
This week marks the 20th Anniversary of Mickey's Toontown at Disneyland. It was a land build by toons according to this handout that was distributed by Disneyland Publicity during the media event back in 1993. It's a place where you can go meet some of your favorite Disney characters. The toon-like houses you can find in Toontown even look like their famous residents. For example, Minnie's house is pink, purple and white; Goofy's house is blue and just a little wacky; Donald lives on The Miss Daisy boat.
When they had Cast Previews to visit and experience Toontown before it's official opening, they had some special Cast Merchandise available at this event. I bought this watch to commemorate the new land.
I love that the hands on this colorful watch are Mickey Mouse hands. It features the Jolly Trolley that cruises up and down Toontown. It was a limited edition timepiece. I have 2019 out of 2750. According to the watch, the Grand Opening was Jan 26, 1993. Other posts I searched for have January 24th as the official opening date. Hmmm.
Toontown is the place to visit if you want to meet up with Mickey or Minnie and have your picture taken with them. Hard to believe 20 years went just like that. Here's to the residents of Toontown...Cheers!
