My Disney Time: Week 44 - Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket
My Disney Time, Week 44 features a Disney classic, Pinocchio.
Pinocchio is the second Disney animated film that was released in 1940. Just think of the body of work and the kind of work that had or could be done in that time period to create this Disney classic film? We were also introduced to the character of Jiminy Cricket who serves as Pinocchio's conscience and best friend. Pinocchio has to learn to caring and know right from wrong before he becomes a real boy. With every lie that he tells, his knows grows. The Blue Fairy explains that Pinocchio's nose will grow "until it's as plain as the nose on your face."
The novelty of this Disney watch is that as the hours go by into the day, you can see Pinocchio's nose grows. The watch design is not only whimsical, but a silent reminder to keep honest in the day. I think it is appropriate that Jiminy is also on the watch in order to serve as symbol of your conscience. Jiminy is a small decal that sits on top of the watch face.
There are no markings on the back of this watch in regards to year or edition. The Mickey, Inc logo is front and center on the back of the watch. I like that "standing Mickey" is a pretty good size so it fills up the space.
One of the most iconic Disney songs came from Pinocchio. The Blue Fairy sang "When You Wish Upon a Star." The last line of this song is "your dreams come true."
So I hope you share some of Pinocchio's learnings, adventures and hopes with your family this holiday season. Wishes are free, so make one.
