My Disney Time - Week 6: Country Bear Jamboree

A little late this week but I wanted to share this fun watch in celebration of Valentine's love this month. Teddy bears are a favorite gift to give a Valentine so I thought to feature my Disney watch that has a bear on it.

Week 6 of My Disney Time features the flirtatious bear from the Country Bear Jamboree show, Miss Teddi Barra.  Her character in the Country Bear Jamboree show (Magic Kingdom and Tokyo only) descends from the ceiling on her rose decorated swing. She is dressed to catch her man-bear complete with fancy hat and feather boa.

My Disney Time - Week 6: Teddi Barra

As you can see, Disneyland tried an event called the Teddy Bear Classic back in 1992. I remember the convention filled with lots of special signings and limited edition pieces for teddy bear collectors. Steiff was there along with Annette Funicello with her former collectible bears company.  Annette Funicello was a much-loved veteran Disney star with a very popular collectible bear company. Annette and her collectible bears were a huge draw for this event. Bears were big back in the late 90s and highly collectible. Remember those Beanie Babies?

I am always drawn to "firsts" since you don't know if more will follow and it will become a classic or not. I bought the watch knowing that it was a special event piece with a limited number available. I like that the date and information of the event was also on the back of this collectible Disney watch. My favorite thing about this watch is that it does say DISNEYLAND on it and it is written in that classic font.

I think there may have have been one more Disneyland Teddy Bear Classic after 1992. Then Disney began an event called the Teddy Bear & Doll Weekend at Walt Disney World which had its last event in 2008. In fall 2010, Disney officially introduced Duffy, the Disney bear. Duffy comes complete with Mickey branded feet paws and also has a line of clothes to dress him up for different occasions.

Tick Tock!
