My Disney Time - Week 36: Lunch Box Beauty & the Beast

Over the next several posts, I am featuring another mini collection of a collectible watch packaged in a mini tin lunch box. My Disney Time, Week 36 features Beauty & the Beast.

Beauty & the Beast watch featuring Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts & Chip

So when you look at this watch face, it really should be called Friends of Beauty & the Beast . Belle and the Beast are not pictured at all. It actually features 4 lovable sidekicks, Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts and Chip. Can't you hear Mrs. Potts singing "Tale as old as time..."

This watch was released in 1994 as part of a lunch box tin collection made for the Walt Disney Theme Parks. It was produced by Disney Time Works. It came with a simple enamel pin. This was way before the Disney pin trading phenomenon had occurred.

It is always fun to see Disney watches that feature the supporting characters from a story. Especially in this story where these particular characters really played important pieces to the storyline.  I like that the watch is another rectangle shape. It helps to show off the number of characters on this watch design. It also has a brown leather band.

These watch pieces were limited to 5000 pieces. I have number 3628.

Here is a preview of the next watches that will be featured in the next couple of blog posts.

This Disney animated film was released in 1991. Beauty & the Beast has the distinct honor of being nominated for Best Picture alongside films such as Bugsy, Prince of Tides and the winner that year, Silence of the Lambs. It did win for Best Original Score and Original Song, too. It also went on to become a successful Broadway musical. I've seen it several times and the live stage production really is fantastic. See it if a national tour ever comes your way.

Tick Tock!
