Disneyland Book Signing Event: Marc Davis
Over the weekend I had a chance to go to Disneyland and get a copy of the newest Disney book, Marc Davis: Walt Disney's Renaissance Man. Marc Davis (website) (Wikipedia) was one of the most influential people in the company as Walt expanded into theme parks. You can't visit a Disney Park without encountering some experience that started in Davis' imagination. Davis is known for drawing iconic Disney Characters like Tinkerbell and Maleficent. This new book is loaded with photos of non-Disney sketches and art from the Alice Davis Collection.
My favorite part of this book is the way it uncovers his deep talent and versatility. Every page has more beautiful art and each chapter reveals a different side of Davis that adds a layer to his Disney Legend status. Another great thing about book is that each chapter is written by a different person (many of them Disney legends in their own right) with their own unique and personal stories to tell about Davis. Several of these chapter authors were on hand at Disneyland to tell stories about Marc and sign our books. I was thrilled to meet them and also get some time in to speak with them. They were all so kind to allow me to take my photo with them to commemorate my adventure.
This new Disney book is lovingly created by Davis'5 wife, his friends, and displays his artwork in gorgeous color. You can get it now at Amazon. Through the stories and art in this book, you will understand why Walt Disney referred to Marc Davis as his "renaissance man".
Wishing you Hope, Faith & Pixie Dust today!
