Music Mondays: A Whole New World

....A new fantastic point of view.

Beginning of a new week and lots of new things on my plate. I am looking forward to several new adventures in the next couple months so, I am channeling this Disney tune.

A Whole New World  is sung by Jasmine and Aladdin in Disney's 1992 animated film, Aladdin. It won an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1993 for Alan Menken (music) and Sir Tim rice (lyrics). Interestingly, Menken also won another Academy Award for his solo work for Best Original Score for the movie.

There was a pop version of A Whole New World sung by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle that topped the Billboard Hot Chart in March 1993. This recording is the only song from a Disney animated feature to have that distinction. Menken and Rice would go on to receive a Grammy Award (1994) for Song of the Year.

My mom loves this song. She was humming it all day yesterday so that is probably why this song is in my head. It's usually her song choice during karaoke time at our family gatherings . Her favorite version is the movie version that is sung by Disney Legend Lea Solanga and Brad Kane.  Recently, my mom shared this video of Solanga singing with this beautiful song with the international musical group IL Divo

A whole new world
A new fantastic point of view
No one to tell us "no"
Or where to go
or say we're only dreaming

It's my anthem to get me through the next couple months.

Wishing you new happy new adventures!
