My Visit to Club 33: Part 3 -Le Salon Nouveau
There is actually a MEMBERS ONLY area at Club 33 known as Le Salon Nouveau. This new section of the remodeled restaurant never existed but is said to have always been on the drawing board. It is located directly above The French Market. Only actual Club 33 members and his/her guests are allowed in this exclusive area. You have to be with the Club 33 member to experience this section.
If Tiana (Princess & the Frog) had a jazz lounge in New Orleans, it would be something close to "Le Salon Nouveau." It has that lounge vibe where you expect to hear some good jazz music while waiting for your specialty drink to arrive. Before you get to this area, you have to walk through this hallway that now serves as a wine cases for Club 33. This area allows the club to serve vintage and premium wines by the glass while keeping them chilled and fresh.
At the end of this hallway are four private seating areas, like intimate alcoves. These are first come first serve. Each as a different theme as noted with the details of the items and decor. The main artwork or centerpiece in the alcove will change (very subtly) if you look long enough.
Here are some photos of the main salon.
There are a lot of items behind the bar that are interesting. I wasn't able to stay long enough to get some pictures of individual items. Some of the instruments on the wall "come to life" during the evening. The one thing you notice in the salon is the old Club 33 elevator. It's become a very intimate conversation seating area and photo op. I also really love the picture of the Royal Street Bachelors placed in this area. There was a similar portrait located in the old Club 33 lobby featuring the original trio.
There was still a lot to see in this part of Club 33 but my time was very limited. We were just grateful to have been invited and been able to step into Le Salon Nouveau.
