Music Monday: Heigh-Ho
On December 21, 1937, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs had a red carpet premiere at the Carthay Circle Theater in Los Angeles, California. Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleeply, Sneezy, Bashful and Dopey became just as famous as Snow White. They endeared themselves to the public with their unique character traits.
They were disciplined in their daily routine of mining for diamonds and rubies. They sang a pretty catch tune as they went off to work and hummed the same song happily as walked back to their home.
Heigh-Ho was written for the 1937 film by Frank Churchill (music) and Larry Morey (lyrics). The two would continue to write several more songs for other Disney movies. Most people can hum the tune and sing the chorus. Depending on if you are going to or coming home from work, you simply change a couple words.
