Sparks Family Mickey Mouse Waffles
MacSparky and I received this Mickey Mouse waffle maker as one of our wedding gifts about 20 years ago. It is a Vitantino Model 950 Disney Mickey Mouse waffle iron (c.1992). It's not the one that was recalled. I am happy to say that our waffle iron works great and we've been using it to make some delicious Mickey Mouse Waffles.
My in-laws shared their "secret" ingredient with in order to make the waffles light and crispy. Instead of water, used club soda. We have a Sodastream so we always the bubbly stuff nearby.
The one "secret" ingredient makes a big difference. Your batter should be a little more on the liquid-side vs. thick and pancake-like. Our older Mickey Mouse waffle iron has deeper grooves than the ones that are out now so this lighter waffle mix helps. A lot of times, my daughter will have her friends over at night and it's my go to late night snack (with some ice cream, Nutella, and fresh strawberries).
So go out and get a fun waffle iron, preferably a fun Disney shaped one. There are several out there that are inexpensive and you can always find a sale coupon to help you save more. With just a handful of ingredients, you'll be able to make some fun and delicious waffles to share with your family or friends. Then share your favorite Disney memories, too, while eating some yummy, light and crispy Mickey Mouse Waffles.
