Friday Find: Disneyland Ticket Book (1980)
I grew up in Southern California and lived about 20 miles north of Disneyland. We always had relatives visit and stay with us and we would take them to Disneyland. My parents always had a stash of Disneyland ticket books with a variety of tickets that were unused. I found this Disneyland Ticket Book intact. It was from Disneyland's 25th Birthday (1980).
The actual front of the ticket book was torn off as that was the Entrance Admission. Read closely as it states that "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln was complimentary with the purchase of this ticket book.
Here is a closer look at each individual ticket. It's fun to see what attractions were considered A, B, C, D, and the famous E-ticket.
It's always fun to see what admission prices were in different years. One of the reasons my parents had some of these intact books was because they would buy several books but would just one or two of the books for the entire party. Each person needed a lettered ticket so it didn't matter which book it came from.
I scoured the internet to see what the asterisk on certain attractions meant. I came upon this website that provided all kinds of information and also more examples of Disneyland tickets. This coupon-type book slowly began to get phased out as Disneyland offered unlimited ticket options. By 1982, tickets books were eliminated in favor of single-price admission.
My sweet daughter made me this "Mother's Day Card" this year. She was clever and did a job copying the Disneyland ticket book. She personalized each section with some heartfelt notes.
