Music Monday: Hakuna Matata (The Lion King)

In the 1994 Disney animated movie, The Lion King, the characters of Pumbaa and Timon, live by the phrase "HAKUNA MATATA." It actually is a Swahili phrase that roughly translates to mean "no worries."

The song, "Hakuna Matata" became an instant hit. Written by Elton John (music) and Tim Rice (lyrics), it went on to be nominated for Best Original Song for the 1995 Academy Awards. It is pretty catchy and just a really fun song. The song also serves as a clever transition from young Simba to adult Simba.

As summer ends and a new school year begins, think HAKUNA MATATA and embrace this "problem free philosophy" to get you through the next several week.

Happy Music Monday!
