Friday Find: Electrical Parade Disneyland Nametag & Watch
Lots of people are excited about Disney's Electrical Parade coming back to Disneyland. It has had quite a journey since it first premiered in 1972. I thought it would be fun these two items that I have that are associated with milestones of this iconic parade.
This commemorative watch was a Cast Member exclusive to celebrate the parade's 20th year in 1992. I wrote more about this watch and have a couple more photos in this post.
In 1996, the announcement was made that the Main Street Electrical Parade would end its 24-year run at Disneyland. I was a Cast Member back then so we all received these special nametags to wear throughout the summer of 1996 which was billed as its "Farewell Season."
The beloved parade has made its way back and forth from coast to coast several times: from Disneyland to the Magic Kingdom (1999); from the Magic Kingdom to Disney California Adventure (2001); from Disney California Adventure to Magic Kingdom (2010); again from Magic Kingdom to it original home, Disneyland (2017). There have been tweaks to its lineup and technology as well.
I thought it would be fun to share these pieces from my Disneyland years with you. It's kind of fun to look at these and think of the rich history of this iconic parade. I have a light bulb somewhere in storage. That will have to be another Friday Find sometime. I have a story about those famous light bulbs.
What's old is new again, right?
